Avengers: Doomsday is the kind of movie that can fill a feed before anyone buys popcorn. Cast announcements, costume details, old comic panels and trailer frames become pieces of an enormous public puzzle. That is part of the fun. The trouble starts when an interesting possibility gets promoted into a certainty simply because it has been repeated often enough.
Our approach at We Breathe Art is to keep the excitement and lose the false confidence. This is a spoiler-light planning and discussion guide, not a review of the unreleased film.
The confirmed starting point
Disney’s official guide, checked October 29, lists a December 18, 2026 theatrical release and Anthony and Joe Russo as directors. Robert Downey Jr. plays Victor von Doom. The guide also says there is no confirmed connection between that character and Tony Stark, and it does not provide a Disney+ streaming date. Those distinctions matter: an actor returning is a casting fact, not proof of a particular story twist.
Give each claim a label
Try sorting the conversation into three boxes. Confirmed means a studio announcement or another directly accountable source states it. Interpretation means someone is drawing a conclusion from what has been shown. Rumor means a claim has not been substantiated. A theory can be clever, persuasive and completely wrong without being dishonest—provided it is introduced as a theory.
For example, a similar color palette might invite a visual comparison. It cannot establish that two characters share an identity. A recognizable object may suggest a connection, but the edit surrounding it could hide the context. Treat clues as prompts for discussion rather than receipts for a conclusion.
Rewatch for enjoyment, not homework
The official Disney+ guide says prior viewing is not required and points interested viewers toward a countdown collection. Our suggestion is simpler: revisit the characters whose decisions you care about. Pick a small number of stories you genuinely want to see again instead of turning the lead-up into an exhausting completion challenge.
When you watch, pay attention to an unresolved relationship or a value a character refuses to compromise. Those are useful conversation starters even if your plot prediction never comes true. They also leave room for the new movie to surprise you.
Look at the design without claiming the answer
For artists and collectors, the countdown offers another kind of attention. Think about how a mask changes a face into a symbol, how a silhouette communicates authority, or how a limited palette can make an ensemble readable. These are creative questions, not claims about specific scenes in Doomsday.
An original sketch inspired by those questions can be more rewarding than reproducing a promotional image. Design your own imposing silhouette, then challenge yourself to communicate vulnerability with only posture. You are practicing visual storytelling while leaving somebody else’s plot alone.
The WBA take
Anticipation should make the eventual screening richer, not replace it. Keep your favorite theory, allow yourself to change your mind, and resist sharing an alleged leak as settled news. The best conversation is not always the one that predicts everything. Sometimes it is the one that leaves enough space to be amazed.
